What’s up?
It all began with a question.
The idea of the big 5 came from a lovely boss from my time at McQueen who used a similar concept to unite the teams around the world. Her father had been the CEO of a major European bank and it was part of his managements team’s “best practice”. He was wise, she was ingenious and I hope to be able to embody a bit of both here by adapting the concept to share the knowledge and experience I have gained in over 20 years in the fashion and wellness arena.
What’s your question?
What is Bhakti Basics?
I am constantly asked “why are you always so happy?” the short answer is yoga. The long answer is it takes practice, patience and persistence.
It’s also taken trial and error, 20 years of it! My goal for you here is to help try and take the guess work out of the equation by sharing with you my all time favorite lessons, recipes, clothes and experiences.
My Story
Growing up in the bohemian Mid-North Coats of Australia was a great introduction to sustainability, longevity and exploring wellness both within and without. I’ve always had a curious nature and am not afraid to put myself out there to learn new things.
I moved to London when I was 19 to study opera at the Guildhall of Music and Drama, (no-one has a better understanding of breath control than opera singers!) and it was in the UK my career in fashion exploded. I have worked with many of the industry’s leading brands and stores, travelling the world countless times over and enjoyed the freedom and creativity that my roles have enabled.
Yoga and wellness have been a part of this journey from the beginning. Travelling to 14 different countries in 12 days for store openings mean you have to be on top of your game. And “Fashion Month” as it is referred to by insiders “is a marathon, not a sprint” (that until recently happened 4 times a year!). I wouldn’t still be here if it wasn’t for the care and attention lovingly paid to my mind and body.
